I've read all of Stylo Fantome's books, and I've loved every single one of them. They sit on top of my favourite books list, so when I went into this book, I already knew that it was going to be something different and special and that I was going to love it. This is a new genre for Stylo Fantome, and I was very interested in seeing how she would do it. She has a unique voice that I'm a huge fan of, and I knew that she would add something different to one of my favourite genres. I just never knew the extent of how much.
I'm a huge fan of action books and books with criminals and illegal stuff. I've read lots and lots of them, but Best Laid Plans was a whole other story. This book is action packed, and when I say action-packed I mean there wasn't one page in the book where something big wasn't happening. Danger followed Lily and Marc everywhere they went, and you never knew where it was coming from, in what form or what way. I almost broke the screen of my phone because I was gripping it so hard while I read, but I really couldn't help it. Best Laid Plans kept me on my toes from the first page until the last, and even breathing was hard. Lily and Marc are... how do I even describe them? They are crazy, they are dangerous and they have a chemistry that is out of this world. Like seriously, the wowza moments where present in every chapter. How a book that is so filled with so much action and bullets and things blowing up has space for sexy stuff I have no idea, but it did and in true Stylo Fantome style it was hawt. Both of the MCs are as I mentioned, crazy, and there is nothing that can hold them back once they want something. They will get it and Marc will burn down the world while doing it. Sex is the same for them. They fight and kill but even while doing that I could feel their attraction and chemistry in every bullet fired and every word and glance and it burned through the pages, getting hotter and hotter. Then there is the ending... I honestly have no words for it. Just, WHY DID IT END THAT WAY? and CAN I PLEASE HAVE THE NEXT BOOK NOW, PLEASE?
I feel though that I should warn you guys that the relationship between Lily and Marc is not your run of the mill one. These guys lead an illegal life. They are killers and thieves and generally not nice, so their relationship is just like that too. If you're looking for a romance book with flowers and hearts and the guy protecting the girl, then this is not the book for you. It's gritty and not your traditional one and the guy is the villan and he has a no-being-nice policy that applies for everyone. If you're looking for something that will shock you, make you blush, giggle and gasp and maybe even break the screen of your phone or kindle, then this book is definitely for you.
Marc is very heavily based on Tom Hardy from "Mad Max: Fury Road" and Lily is Jessica Chastain. Kingsley Law's look is entirely based on Jude Law.
Who do you picture the characters like? Would love to see your dream cast!
About the Author:Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ..., forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.
I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.
Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
