Blog Tour: Capture by Rachel Van Dyken

Hi, guys! Welcome to my stop on the Capture by Rachel Van Dyken blog tour, which is hosted by the amazing Inkslinger PR. This book was such a great read, and is a standalone novel. It is the beginning of a brand new series and does not end in a cliffhanger. There are characters from the Seaside Series who make an appearance but this story is not a continuation from the Seaside series. Below, you'll find my review of it along with some teasers!

Release Date: August 20, 2015
Losing your ability to speak at the age of seventeen; it’s not normal or fair.

But trauma, has a way of throwing normality out the window.

Dani lives anything but a normal life.
Her sister is married to one of the biggest names in Hollywood.

Her best friends are rockstar duo AD2.

And she has more love around her than most people experience in a lifetime.

But that doesn't change the fact their parents are dead.

Or that it's her fault.

It seems her new normal is being a mute, living on the inside, unable to actually communicate on the outside.

That is until Hollywood’s newest heartthrob Lincoln Greene hires her as his assistant for the summer. He's gorgeous, completely unavailable, and unobtainable.

But that doesn't stop her from wondering...if things were different...would he want her?

If she was whole, would he be the other half?

My Thoughts:

This will be my second Rachel Van Dyken book, and I loved it just as much as I did the first one, if not more. Capture is such a sweet, funny and heart-warming book that I couldn't put it down. It delves into one of the most sensitive and impacting things anyone can experience and deal with and what society think of it.

After the death of both of her parents, Dani becomes a selective mute, not uttering a word in months, ridden with guilt, thinking she was the cause for the death of her parents. When her famous sister and equally famous husband get her a job as an assistant to Hollywood heartthrob Lincoln Greene, she start thinking of what would happen if they had met before the accident that took her parents, back when she was normal.

I loved this book. Capture captured me from the first page, drawing me into Dani's pain as she struggled with guilt and shame and feeling far from normal. Lincoln is dealing with pain too, only his is buried deep and he masks it behind bright smiles and jokes. I loved the fact that he isn't like every other famous actor in other books. He didn't party hard, he didn't have a bad boy reputation and he wasn't the silent and brooding type. He was a nice guy and one of the few I like since I usually adore the mean bad boys. He was very real, and he made me swoon so much. He made me laugh too. The roles were almost reversed in Capture, with Dani being the sarcastic and brooding character while Lincoln was the bubbly and funny guy who tried to save her. Together, they made for a very sweet and cute couple that I just loved. There were also moments that made my heart ache for them both and for what they suffered in life.

I felt like time was flying while I read this book. I devoured it in a few hours and I wanted more when I hit the last page and couldn't find more words to read. From the main characters to the secondary ones and to the fast pacing of the book, everything just floated and came together to make an amazing read that is both perfect as a summer read and for when you're looking for a book with a deeper meaning and emotions. I absolutely loved this book, and now I'm going to read the Seaside series because I fell in love with the secondary characters too and even though I know so much about how their lives turned out to be, I'm very excited to read how it all started. Then there is Zane, my favourite secondary character and the guy I'm dying to read the story of. I have an idea it's going to be heart-breaking and make me cry, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless.
