There’s a monster in every closet, and I’m in yours

My name is Noah. I’m not a nice person. This isn’t cupcakes and candyland, love.

I’ll take you, break you, and offer you to the highest bidder without a second thought. You’re mine now. It’s business, nothing personal. You wouldn’t understand, and I’m not going to explain it. Sorry, love, you don’t mean a thing to me.

Just know that there’s a monster in every closet, and I’m in yours.

Author Note – This dark romance novel contains themes that may be discomforting to some people. If you are sensitive to depictions of violence, then this book is not recommended for you.

Man’s POV = Ethan, Woman’s POV = Cerys

There is a light at the end of every dark tunnel, no matter how dim it may seem.

This guy is a fucking idiot.  No joke, I don't understand how someone can be like this.  I will never understand it.  He was directed to me by an acquaintance or some shit, and I'm doing them both a favor, but he's got some really fucked up ideas about what kind of business I run.

I read over his email again, probably for the hundredth time.

Noah, he starts, and that's the only sane word he says in the entire thing.

He wants a girl, so we have that part straight.  I only work with women.  Nothing against men, they just don't interest me thatmuch.

Anyways, this guy wants me to find him a girl.  Younger is better.  He says he doesn't care how old she is, but I'm not into that creepy underage shit.  I get that he'd probably like that, but I've got morals and limitations here, as fucked up as that sounds.

It's not just that, though.  Young, alright.  I can find someone that's college-aged easily enough.  Those are usually the easiest girls to deal with, too.  Not enough experience to know any better, so they're easy to capture, and then they fall in love sofucking easily it's sickening.  It's like you just chain them to a wall for a week and after that they'll do anything you say, they'll just get on their knees as soon as you come in, slobber on your cock until you get off, and even thank you for cumming all over their face.

There's more, though.  Young, yes.  College-aged, sure.  On the shorter side, which I had to ask him for clarification about andhe replied with anything under 5' 5".  Got it, I can work with that.  Not overweight, either.  Sure thing, boss.  What's overweight?  He comes back with some arbitrary number that doesn't mean anything.  Under one-hundred-forty pounds.  Weight doesn't mean anything because I can do something about their weight, but it's good to have guidelines like that.  It's easier, too.  If they have restrictions on looks, then you want to know what they'll look like before you go through with the whole process.

Overweight girls are usually really fucking attractive once they've lost even just twenty pounds.  It's kind of fun, too.  When I kidnap one of them and get them in shape, I feel like I'm really making a difference in the world.  Self-esteem, right?  They're easy to control, too.  Show them how fucking hot you've made them and they practically melt at your feet, even after all theother terrible shit you've done to them.  It's real sweet.  Makes me want to pretend I've fallen in love before I send them to their buyer.

I can deal with this guy's requests about age, height, weight.  I asked him about looks and he got back to me that he wanted someone cute.  Cute, sure, what the fuck does that mean?  Give me an example here?  He shows me a picture of some celebrity who somehow hasn't posed nude in a men's magazine yet.  I didn't even know it was possible to find a girl like that.  She's got that sort of heart-shaped face, with a bubbly personality and the cheeks to match.  When she smiles, it makes you want to pinch her cheeks and then fuck her hard.  The innocent type of girl.  A little shy.  Not dumb, but naive.  She might have a lot of book smarts, but she doesn't know anything about reality.  I get it.  I understand the sort of girl he wants, and it shouldn't be too hard to find her, because that's basically every girl in the history of the world.

And her name has to be Chastity White, he says.

What the fuck?  We've gone back and forth about this, and I just do not understand.  I asked him if it has to be White?  Can itbe Chastity Wight?  Same pronunciation.  No, he says.  What about LeBlanc?  Same idea, right?  No, he says.  Does it have to beChastity?  I can do this a lot easier if I've got a few more options for a first name.  I give him suggestions, too.

Purity?  Grace?  Faith?  No, no, no.  Motherfucker.

Look, we can just rename this bitch.  I will give her a new name.  She doesn't need a name.  Her name is literally the least important detail about her.

ARC Review: Rampant by Gemma James

Title: Rampant
Author: Gemma James
Series: Condemned #2
Genre: Adult, Contemporary, Dark Romance
Publishing: Self-published,  28th October 2014

Summary (Goodreads):
Life is twisted. Cruel. After being ripped from the safe haven of Rafe's arms, my new kidnapper is waging a sick game. Unable to make my body do his bidding, he's resorting to psychological warfare. He'll bend my mind until I break, and when I do, that just might be my saving grace.

I'll forge through hell to get back to Rafe, body and spirit broken and bleeding, but I'm unprepared for what I find. He's done what I can't: he's erased eight years of pain and betrayal. I don't know how to bring him back to me, because bringing him back means ripping him to shreds all over again.

RAMPANT is a new adult dark romance with disturbing themes and explicit content, including sexual scenes and violence that may offend some. Intended for mature audiences. Part two of the CONDEMNED series. This is not a stand-alone read.

My Thoughts:

**An eARC was provided by author is exchange of an honest review**

I've been dying to read this book since the moment I finished the first one, Torrent, which chose a very bad moment to end in and left us hanging. I was going crazy thinking of all the things that could happen in the second book and what possibly could go wrong and at the same time I was totally dreading reading it because I knew I should expect heartbreak.

As to not spoil this book, I will not go into what happens. You'll have to read for yourself and feel what I felt, because believe me, there is nothing that could prepare anybody to what happens. I mean, if you've read the first book, which I hope you did, then you know what happened and how things become messy. Well, in Rampant, everything becomes an even bigger mess. From the first second I started reading it, I was biting my nails and I was almost covering my eyes so I wouldn't read what was happening, but like when watching a horror movie, I could not stop. I just had to read, even if my heart was breaking with every word and I was close to tears.

Alex... my heart broke for her. Honestly, it kept breaking for her with every word and page. The things that happened to her were awful. Things just kept going from worse to even more worse for her, and while Rafe was somewhat saved from the physical pain, he was fighting his own battles. There seriously was no break for the both of them. Both were in pain, both were fighting their own demons, and both were aching on the inside. When they finally got together, they weren't spared from more hurt, instead it was doubled. Now they had each other's pain to add to the mix. I wanted to scream at the unfairness of it all. No matter what they did, there was always someone there to ruin it or want to keep them apart.

And god, I absolutely loved this book. This series is fast becoming one of my favorites. I love all the action and, god help me, even the pain. There is no moment where I got bored or felt like stopping and maybe taking a break. I was so not given a break in this book, not with how fast things were happening and the developments made, and even through all of the stuff going on and the mess, this book still managed to be hot. I loved those stolen moments between Rafe and Alex. They had me 'aww'-ing, swooning and fanning myself. Their moments felt more intense than in the first book, which is saying something since that was one level of smut and sexiness that had me melting, but the added emotional strain upped the level of hotness. Everything was more in Rampant, from the crazy to the dark and twisted, to the heartwarming. And don't get me started on the ending. Seriously. I was gaping at my iPad when I finished because I could not believe that there was no more words to read and I could not flip to more pages. To say it was a cliffhanger would be an understatement. Now I'm dying for the next book, and if this one is anything to go by, then the third will be the end of me.

Action-filled and heart-wrenching, Rampant will have you at the edge of your seat, from start to finish and then you'll be screaming for more!

Blog Tour: Chasing Luck by Brinda Berry (Review + Giveaway)

Hi everyone! I'm so very happy to be part of the blog tour for Chasing Luck by Brinda Berry which is hosted by the amazing Xpresso Book Tours! To follow the rest of the stops, check out the tour schedule here and enjoy the awesomeness!

Chasing Luck by Brinda Berry
(A Serendipity Novel #1)
Publication date:
May 1st 2014
Genres: New Adult, Romance, Suspense

Sometimes surviving doesn’t feel lucky. Especially when you’re a sole survivor…

At the age of seven, Malerie walked away from a bombing that left hundreds dead—including her mother. When a crazed gunman kills her guardian on her eighteenth birthday, Malerie suspects there may be more to her survival than luck. A mysterious code holds the key to her future, and a reluctant white knight holds the key to her heart.

A loner wearing emotional armor…

Ace is a twenty-year-old entrepreneur focusing on two things in life: financial security and a life without ties. A life that doesn’t risk losing the ones who matter. When Ace is hired to secretly act as a bodyguard for Malerie, he faces an unwanted attraction that threatens to sabotage his heart. Can Ace find the courage to love a girl with a death wish?

 Goodreads | Amazon | B&N | Kobo

My Thoughts:

When I read the blurb for this book, I was really excited to read it. I loved the sound of the mystery and was expecting a lot of sexual tension and a hate-love relationship. I dig those kind of relationships. There is no two love sick people giggling, blushing and just saying 'I love you' all the time, and basically being very boring, and I hate boring.

Chasing Luck starts with Malerie's eighteenth birthday, where she is having sinner with her very rich guardian and uncle. There she meets Ace, a guy her uncle hired for security reasons. Their attraction is immediate, and when a shooting at the restaurant results in her guardians death, Malerie and Ace are thrown together to uncover truths about the events unfolding in Malerie's life.

I liked this book. The writing was very good and flowing, and the author has a way of making me wanting to read and never stop. Ace and Malerie are two characters I loved. She is sheltered with a past filled with pain and fear and he harbors guilt over the loss of his family and the betrayal in his life. They can't stop thinking about the other, and though Ace wants nothing to do with the heiress, he needs this job, even if it makes it harder for him not to harbor feelings for Malerie and to stay away to save himself more hurt, but she can't stay away either, even though Ace makes it very clear he's there for the money alone.

While I liked both characters and had no problem with their personalities, I didn't like them together. Remember how I mentioned I'm not a huge fan of lovey dovey couples? Well, Ace and Malerie are like that. They weren't really a couple and nothing happened until close to the end of the book, but from the start I had a problem with the insta-love thing they had going on. I understand insta-lust, but insta-love is something I don't like and while the attraction between the MCs was clear from the beginning, there were a lot of feelings involved that just made me want to shout 'too early!'.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed this book. I liked the mystery, and I liked that it kept me guessing. There were things happening all the time, and the action never let me get bored. I wanted to read as fast as possible to get to the button of the things happening. Sometimes though, the book felt like it bordered on the supernatural, and I when finished the book, I still had questions about the boxes. It wasn't really clear if they really meant something or if it all was a coincidence.

Well-written and action-filled, this book will have you wanting for more. If you don't mind a little extra love, then this book is great fast read you want to get your hands on!

Book Review: Torrent by Gemma James

Title: Torrent
Author: Gemma James
Series: Condemned #1
Genre: Adult, Contemporary, Dark Romance
Publication: 22nd July 2014 by Createspace

Summary (Goodreads):
She sent an innocent man to prison. Now, eight years later, he's returning the favor...
I’ve been obsessed with Rafe Mason since I was thirteen. The twisted part of this story is that I still want him, even now.
Now that he's holding me captive on an island.
Rafe has his reasons for doing what he's doing, and if I'm honest, I can't blame him. I’m the girl who sent him to prison for a heinous crime he didn't commit.
But now he's free and the tables have he's the one driven by obsession.
TORRENT is a new adult dark romance with disturbing themes and explicit content, including sexual scenes and violence that may offend some. Intended for mature audiences. Part one of the CONDEMNED series. This is not a stand-alone read. Approximately 43,000 words.

My Thoughts:

There is something about dark and twisted books that draws me in. I can never pass on a good ole' gritty book, and when I read the blurb for Torrent, I was a goner. I had to read this book.

Torrent follows the life of Alex, a girl who comes from a family with a lot of money and more secrets. She's trapped in a life she doesn't want, drowning in pain and guilt and self-hate over the life she destroyed when she sent an innocent man, one who cared about her, into prison for a crime he didn't commit. Now, eight years later he's out, but he's not the same man he was before, and it's time for him to get his revenge.

I was hooked in this book from the first chapter. The amount of messed up things and darkness shown from the start had me trapped. I didn't have to wait long for the action to start, it was there as soon as I cracked this book open. My state of horrified gasping and wide eyes continued throughout the whole book. While a lot of the action and secrets where revealed early, or I thought so at least, there was always something making me stop reading and blink in surprise. To say that I couldn't stop reading would be an understatement. I was gripping my iPad and reading as fast as I can while at the same time terrified of what I might come across.

Alex and Rafe are two very messed up people. She'd been fighting monsters pretty much her whole life, but her body is always betraying her, and it's no different when Rafe kidnaps her and takes her to an isolated island. Only this time, she isn't so much against her body's reaction. She'd always wanted him, and there'd always been a connection between them, and while she's terrified of what he might do to her, she welcomes it at the same time. Rafe wants to take all of the pain and humiliation he'd felt in the past sight years out of the one person responsible for it all, but at the same time, he wants an explanation as to why Alex did what she did to him.

Told from both Alex's and Rafe's POV, Torrent makes for one emotional read. We get to experience the thoughts and feelings and the emotional turmoil both of them are going through. My heart broke for them more than once. Alex had been put through so much for so many years, and Rafe too had lost so much because of the false accusations. I loved them both, but I can't deny that in the beginning of the book I hated Rafe for the things he did and thoughts he had about Alex. He's a changed man after prison, and yeah he got punished for things he didn't do, but it in no way gave him the right to kidnap and do the things he did to Alex. That is just wrong, but I could not for the life of me stop reading or hate Rafe for the remaining of the book, because even though I don't agree with what he did, I understand his pain and the things he went through. This book is not one with rainbows and sunshine and flying unicorns. It's emotional, it's gritty and as dark and twisted as a book can get. Things are so messed up and there really is no right or wrong, you just have to go with the flow and hope things don't take a turn for the worse, and with the way this book needed? Things are so very bad. The wait for the next book is hard, and I'm itching and dying to read the rest even though I'm scared out of my mind thinking of what could happen in the next book.

Hi everyone! Today, I'm so happy to be part of the book blitz for Prisoner by Annika Martin and Skye Warren! This book is has everything I love, dark and twisted with a sexy alpha-male, can you say yum?

Prisoner by Annika Martin & Skye Warren
Publication date:
October 23rd 2014

Genres: New Adult, Romance

He seethes with raw power the first time I see him—pure menace and rippling muscles in shackles. He’s dangerous. He’s wild. He’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

So I hide behind my prim glasses and my book like I always do, because I have secrets too. Then he shows up in the prison writing class I have to teach, and he blows me away with his honesty. He tells me secrets in his stories, and it’s getting harder to hide mine. I shiver when he gets too close, with only the cuffs and the bars and the guards holding him back. At night I can’t stop thinking about him in his cell.

But that’s the thing about an animal in a cage—you never know when he’ll bite. He might use you to escape. He might even pull you into a forest and hold a hand over your mouth so you can’t call for the cops. He might make you come so hard, you can’t think.

And you might crave him more than your next breath.

"Sexy, dark and thrilling. I loved every second of it!" – New York Times bestselling author Katie Reus.

Guest Post:

Why I Write Dark Romance
Thanks so much for having me! I’m Skye Warren, New York Times bestselling author of dark romance. I’m excited to share my new release, Prisoner, which is a book I co-wrote with my friend and bestselling author Annika Martin.
I think one of the joys of reading, thinking back even to childhood, was the sense that anything could happen. Wardrobes opened to new lands and golden tickets opened the gate to magical chocolate factories.
When I got a little older (but probably not old enough) I started reading Anne Rice. Ooo boy, let me tell you. The Witching Hour is as dark and as taboo as it gets. There’s ménage and incest and all kinds of wild times. And these were books sitting on a nice, bright shelf in the bookstore that my parents bought for me—totally not knowing what was inside!
So I really didn’t have a sense that there were boundaries in books. That was something I learned later, as an adult.
And it’s something I try to unlearn, in a way.
I try to push my own boundaries with each new book. I try to stretch myself. Because that’s a huge part of the fun of writing. And even though this is my career, I want to have fun. Plus, it produces better books. The books I wrote with my hands flying over the keyboard, the ones I questioned before I published them if they were even acceptable for public viewing, are consistently my bestsellers. My readers want me to push the envelope.
When Annika and I first discussed co-writing we both knew it would be dark and sexy. Well, that’s what we both already wrote, but we came up with a new style working together. There’s something seriously sexy about prison… strong men, powerful men, cunning men contained by something as primitive as metal bars. Something sexy about defying the laws of society and getting caught, but maintaining an air of danger.

Some days, I don’t even see how this stuff is considered that dark—or dangerous. After all, there are demons and werewolves in books and no one bats an eye. Is it that strange to read about a person finding love? Even if that person does happen to be a prison inmate… Real criminals find love (and hot sex) every day. But then I remember that that’s what makes these stories scary. They hit close to home. They make us squirm. And that’s why I love them.

The authors are giving away one (1) ebook copy of On the Way Home by Skye Warren ANDone (1) ebook copy of The Kinky Bank Robbers boxed set by Annika Martin (both to the same winner). Open internationally and ends November 14.

I’m a NYT bestselling author living a stone’s throw away from the Mississippi with my awesome husband and two cats in a home full of plants, sunshine and books. I'm heavy into writing love stories about criminals--some of them are dirty and fun (my Kinky bank robbers!) others are dark and intense (Prisoner!)

I also write gritty romantic suspense as the RITA-award winning author Carolyn Crane.

Skye Warren is the New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author of dark romantic fiction. Her books are raw, sexual and perversely tender. For those new to her work, consider the bestseller Wanderlust or Don't Let Go.

SCT available now

I’d remained in bed after that, trying to sort through the odd tingling in my chest. There was a slight smile on my lips, because Zayne…well, he’d made my day, but then I’d remember what Roth had said to me the night before and the smile would wash away as if it had never been there.
I probably needed to get used to the whiplash mood swings.
It wasn’t until after dinner that I decided to scrub a day’s worth of gunk off myself.Gingerly, I peeled the bandage off, happy to find that the cut in my arm was healing as expected. I didn’t need to cover it anymore. The arm was still tender, but the Warden blood in me was quickly undoing the damage from the iron.
After changing into fresh pj’s, like a total hermit, I padded over to my desk, where I’d left my cell phone. It had been on silent all day and when I tapped the screen, I wasn’t surprised to see a slew of texts from Stacey.

Where r u?

R u skipping, u ho?

A minute later: Your locker misses u. Guess u sick with the herp?
Oh my God. I laughed out loud, grinning as I thumbed through her texts. Our bio sub is still hot. U r missing this.

Bio is lonely.

My boobs miss u. How weird is that?

That was notably weird and yet not surprising.

If I get my cell taken from me, it’s ur fault.

Holy shit, Layla, where r u?!?

Air punched out of my lungs as I read the next text and the several following them.

U have no idea who just walked into bio!!!

Roth is here!

Holy Canola oil, why aren’t u here to witness this?

Ok. He says he had mono. Srlsy? Do people still get mono? And who in the duck was he kissing? A second later—Duck? I didn’t mean duck. That’s SO not what I meant, autocorrect.

Another text had come in about fifteen minutes after the last one. He asked where u were. I told him u joined a cult. I laughed. He didn’t.

Finally, the last text was to call her if I wasn’t dead.
“What in the Hell?” I tossed my cell onto the bed, mouth hanging open.
